Varzina, Trout Lodge 07-13.09.2025
The penultimate week of fishing on the Upper Varzina has come to its end, and despite the warm and sunny weather, it could be called autumnal. The tundra has fully donned its bright camouflage and sparkled with riotous colors. At night, the northern aurora sweeps across the sky, adding an element of mystery and mysticism to these places. Despite it being mid-September, the river temperature remains at 13°C and its level became suitable for fishing. As for the fishing itself, it remains challenging, as it has been since the beginning of the season and throughout its entirety. Moreover, some "early" fish have already begun spawning and apparently aren't particularly interested in passing bait. In total, 154 brown trout and 9 Atlantic salmon were caught on 9 rods. The largest brown trout reached 67 cm, and the salmon 89 cm. Admittedly, for such a late season fishing, these are not bad results, and the fishermen were pleased with their trip. There's still one more week left in our camp, and what it will be like remains a mystery...
